Reiki is known to many as the laying on of hands. It is a healing method used by many to bring comfort, balance and stabilize ones system. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word ‘Rei’ meaning the pursuit of higher knowledge, spiritual or universal consciousness and ‘Ki’ meaning life energy or the energy that animates all living things.
Treatment requires the recipient to relax, fully clothed either seated or laying down, while the healer holds their hands on or above you. A typical treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions. The energy flows wherever it is required and can normally be felt as a warm or tingling sensation in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience.
Our bodies were not designed for the fast-paced world we live in. Many of us need ways to reconnect with others and ourselves. Reiki helps us slow down, discover a sense of calm, nourish our health and reconnect with out deepest sense of purpose. The state of relaxation achieved through Reiki encourages physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
Reiki is an effective way to help yourself through difficult times and issues. It can be used for anything from fears, stress and worry to depression, addictions and sever emotional trauma or simply bad habits. The number of treatments required will vary from each individual, and the more long-term the issue, generally the longer it takes to resolve them, though usually some positive effects can be felt from the outset.
Reiki is a powerful and gentle healer: - The powers of Reiki promotes natural and self healing - Balances the energies in the body - Balances the organs and glands - Strengthens the immune system - Treats symptoms and causes of illness - Relieves pain - Clears toxins - Adapts to the natural needs of the receiver - Enhances personal awareness - Relaxes and reduces stress - Promotes creativity - Releases blocked and suppressed feelings - Aids meditation and positive thinking - Heals holistically

Following a bereavement in 2004, I began to struggle with my mobility and became very depressed - it was a very dark time in my life. I was a member of the spiritual church and was introduced to Reiki healing there - I was curious and had treatment which helped me immensely. I wanted to be able to help others the way I had been helped, and in 2006 I started my training, qualifying as a Reiki Master 2009. Since then I have worked with many people and realised I may also be able to help animals. I did additional training to learn how to do this, and qualified in 2015. I have treated Barn Owls, Deer as well as friend’s Cats and Dogs. In May 2018, I qualified in Omni Healing, a member of the the Duchy of Cornwall Healing Group, and also a Buddhist monk in a Japanese temple in Gloucester.
